Definition of Slab: Slab  is a structural member of FLAT,THICK hard material which primarily takes the load and then distributes to the beam and column.


Types of slab:

1) One way slab

2) Two way slab

One Way Slab:

  • supported by beams in only two sides
  • The ratio of Longer span panel to shorter span panel is greater than or equal to 2 L/B>=2
  • Main reinforcement is provided in only one direction
  • Carries less load than two way slab

Two Way Slab:

  • Supported by beams on two sides
  • The ratio of longer span panel to shorter span panel is less than 2
  • Main reinforcement is provided in both direction
  • Carries greater load than one way slab
